Its a cold evening and i'm eager to meet with "Kgosi Prince Chauke" Aka "KingP". As He comes back from the gym we final get the chance too meet and chill for a while. Before we commence with the interview he selects a few of his favorite tracks & mini listening session we had of his upcoming album which he would like to keep unknown for now.
His New stuff is GREAT, a new sound that has so much energy and vibrant feel to it. An "A Lister of endless HITS"
Expect the likes of "Zano" Being featured on the upcoming album, with that being said "KingP" something worthwhile for all the upcoming young artists out there
"If You Can't Finance Your Product Its Really Hard To Breakthrough"
I couldn't agree more with the wise DJ Atteridgeville has ever brewed.
When did You Start Producing ?
Its been a minute he says.
I started producing in 2004. I was always eager to learn how they do it, So I did my research & to my findings I needed equipment to start of my career.
I knew i had to get a computer with software like frooty Loops that allowed me to do what i wanted to do, but as I grew into this I discovered that "Frooty Loops" produced more of your (bubble gum) sound, then I changed too "Reason" which produced more of a (Warm Sound)
What Are The Milestones You've Come Across This In Industry?
Exploitation is one of the struggles DJs/Artists face in today's business.
You can make an awesome song but If you don't know Tthe right channels you won't make It. Top DJs exploit
young upcoming talent, they always want to take the credit. Orders are sent out for young produces to come up with new and fresh tracks in order to publicize that as their own.
So my mission is to be Dependant and vigilant with my craft.
The other thing is that its difficult to make It If you not known, not enough chance is given to the younger talent.
Our radio station Isn't Supporting our music, being the local upcoming guys.
We always hear of how old DJs are releasing hits and rebranding themselves.
What Have you Learned From Other Producers Being your Peers
Producers Are Lazy, They Use old material that has been used before just rebrand their Brand.
I don't listen to local music because local DJ's are lazy, not original and creative.
I prefer lounge music more. I'm Inspired & motivated by people like Bonobo.
What Could You Say Your Genre Of Music Is?
I Produce Urban House Music.
its fun, energetic and moving.
My music has a lot of elements In It, it takes you to an instrumental euphoria.
Afro soul is what i refer it too with a bit of arabic scales.
Where Do You See Yourself In 5 Years ?
I'm currently working on a project which is my album and I want it to be something people haven't seen or heard. Its a new sound and feel.
I want to build brand, that is strong and independent.
I want to acknowledge and grow the talent in my community.
