Gentlemen Of Bacongo

Cool Bloggers, Urbanized Cults Such As "Troublesome_kids" & The Gentlemen Of Bacongo, Also Known As The Sapeurs From The Congo Show Fashion Confidence. I Know They've Been Around For A While, But They've again Borrowed Trends From The Past and have styled their looks to represent an original take on fashion. Paul Smith has been fascinated by the "Gentlemen Of Bacongo." In realizing these cool styles creativity comes up from the streets, mashing up trends to create something fresh.

Ambitious Hustle "Genius"

Today On "Ambitious Hustle" I Sit And Chat With David Funani Manganyi AKA Genius. i Look Into His Life & Tails Of His Music, A Local Upcoming Rapper From Limpopo Currently Based In Johannesburg. As We Chat About His Music Career, His Projects & Progress I Notice That Genius Is A Shy Guy And Is to Vocal Through His Music.

When Did You Start Making Music?

i can't say when to be exact, the thing is music has always been part of me,i started singing from a young age around 12-13years,But if you were to ask when did I become an active recording artist I'd say late 2009.

What Led You Too Start This

Passion for Sound,I actually fell in love with what I do after Kanye West released Graduation Album and for some reason I've always been driven trying to be like him

What Are The Lows You've Come Across In This Industry?

Promoters shutting us out, Lol this went as far as being asked for a performance fee, just imagine that...i mean how in the world does one pay to perform? Isn't that supposed to be the other way around?

What Are The Highs?

Being able to complete my 1st LP which has 15 songs I believe you'll enjoy, its by far one of my greatest work ever especially after taking a 3 years break from music to complete my University degree. I thought coming back would be hard but somehow I managed to pull through.

What If A Record Company Wants To Sign You?

It will depend on what I'm being offered, I mean record companies are well known for ripping artists off and I don't want to be a victim. At the moment I'm trying to build my own empire called Black Box Music which I believe will be the 1st record Company to ever come out of Limpopo one day.

Is It About The Passion, Money Or Fame

Passion mostly but if the money and the fame comes with it that's a bonus :)

Please Describe Your Sound?

Tough one, I'd say a combination of different elements from different genres, once you get my LP you'll understand what I mean . There's a Lil bit of everything,Rnb,House,Hip Hop,Kwaito there's quite a lot.

What Are Your Intentions Of Coming Up With This Sound?

Remember you can move a mountain with nothing but your mind. That's exactly how I feel when I make this Sound, I'm trying to show people there are possibilities unimaginable you can reach with little things after all they matter the most.

What Is The Targeted Market You Looking At?

Well I was hoping to start off with a thousand copies since I'm a new artist then well take it from there...actually the plan was to start off with 500 copies since there isn't much support where I'm from(Modimolle) hut then a good friend of mine said " Limpopo Is Just Like Any Other Place,, You Just Gotta Have The Urge To Make A Change" then from there I knew I had to push take my chances

Any Collabs You Have Done?

Yeah I have a few, You'll Hear a song in the LP titled Heaven which features my lil sis Ursula age 13, Uthandi mali ft Bayor and Mapapuzi,Tlala ft Bradley-K

Where Do You See Your Music In The Next Coming 5 Years

5 years that's a long time,my plan is to walk away with best new comer this year or next year. That's a challenge I assigned for myself and with the grace of God and your support believe it shall be.

I'm A Fan Rite? Where Can I Get Linked Up With Your Music?

Uhmmm im actually waiting for the remaining hard copies from the printers which might be done by the end of the week. The plan is to push it the old school way,on the streets. i will soon give out contact details of people who will be distributing copies, and if you too far well use Post.
